The trees are not dying. They are shedding the unnecessary, and will stand stark, proud and naked, until the regrowth of their verdant cloak in the Spring.
Whilst we envelop ourselves in ever more garments, to distance ourselves from the bite and spite of winters’ claws, the tree seems more defiant than ever and knowingly screams, ‘I am here, and neither season nor saw will vanquish my spirit’.
For myself, I have had to move ever forwards, step by step, day by day and try to incorporate into my own soul, that very defiance displayed by the mighty Oak and the new grown sapling as the rebuilding of my body mind and soul, stumbled from the wreckage that my addictions had caused to myself and those who were unfortunate enough to slipstream into my orbit.
Love and music, music and love.
My greatest fear was a ‘creative block’, it never happened, in fact, the opposite has occurred. A new album is finished and set for release, the next few albums could be recorded next week if there were time……, there’s so much more to come !!
I am blessed by the people around me and I’m ever mindful that those around me are NOT my supporting cast. We travel together, pilgrims towards a destination unknown and unnamed. With a journey this good, who needs a destination ??
‘Love The One You’re With’ sang Stephen Stills (a song that I love)…..well, I spend most of my time with ‘myself’ so I’ve had to relearn something that was so elusive to me. Self love, stripped of ego is to be celebrated. It means that I have to forgive myself, so that I may give more to others.
For me, 18 months sober and clean, and heading towards 2024, I’m bursting with excitement! Myself and my fellow ‘Blistered Mirrors’ have been convening regularly to make my new songs the best that they can be, and being in a room with these amazing humans, bathing in the sound created, is a wonderful, blissful experience.
I can’t wait for us all to connect on the other side of the New Year. Stand as trees dear friends and trust that the rebirth will come.
